THE BBC is facing a £125 million black hole in its finances despite an increase in viewer ratings as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.

The corporation’s chairman has warned of the “very real financial challenges” ahead as the BBC’s annual plan for 2020/21 was published. Bosses already have to deal with the task of making £800m in savings by 2022.In the news department alone, cuts worth £80m will have to be rolled out over the course of two years. The BBC has been hit hard by the coronavirus pandemic gripping the UK.
