Thousands of passengers are stuck at Dubai International Airport after the building suffered severe flooding from an intense storm.
Passengers were urged by the airport to stay away "unless absolutely necessary" after it was hit by more than a year's average rainfall in 24 hours. "Flights continue to be delayed and diverted. Please check your flight status directly with your airline.Emirates has now confirmed that check-ins for passengers departing from Dubai International Airport have been suspended from 8am to midnight on Wednesday. However, passengers arriving in Dubai and already in the air will continue to be processed.
The airline said: "Emirates is suspending check-in for passengers departing @DXB from 8:00am on 17 April until midnight, due to operational challenges caused by bad weather and road conditions. Affected customers can contact their booking agent or visit https://emirat.es/support for rebooking.
