EasyJet plans to cut staff by up to 30%

EasyJet is to cut up to 30% of its workforce as it struggles to cope with the collapse in demand for air travel caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

EasyJet, which has big operations at Gatwick and Luton airports, confirmed it would restart flights on 15 June. It added that in the coming days, it would launch an employee consultation process on the planned job cuts."To effect the restructure of our business, EasyJet will shortly launch an employee consultation process on proposals to reduce staff numbers by up to 30%, reflecting the reduced fleet, the optimisation of our network and bases, improved productivity as well as the promotion of more efficient ways of working," the firm said.

I hope they offer staff right to return with no interview. But this is a sad time. We need to be international leaders in reopening air travel. If it were me incharge of this department. I would have a test every 2 days policy.

I have sympathy for the people who will lose jobs. I have no sympathy for the company who are contributing so damagingly to climate change and have lobbied for years against environmental regulations

BS, they'd have made these cuts even without the pandemic.

Goof't should have insisted on Electric jets for short haul... easyjet are developing one. So they took the £600million bail out (no strings attached - like keeping employees) & the UK gets what exactly out of it?
