The Department for Work and Pensions has confirmed a £500 million cost of living support package for the next 12 months. This comes after Chancellor Jeremy Hunt's spring budget, where the DWP detailed the extra support that will be given to the neediest households, over and above regular benefits.
Some people are asking if the £900 cost of living payments will come back. These payments were given out three times last year because things like energy, fuel, and food got really expensive. They also said: "Almost one million households on Universal Credit take out budgeting advance loans. These provide families with a vital source of funds to purchase one-off items like fridges and other expensive items."
He went on to say: "The long-term decisions announced by the Chancellor will put £900 back in the pockets of 27 million employees this year and support the equivalent of 200,000 people into work, when taken together with the next generation of welfare reforms we're already rolling out."
