Why police in Northern Ireland are still targets for dissident republicans 25 years after the Good Friday Agreement

BBC News NI

The republican movement wants Northern Ireland to leave the UK and unite with the Republic of Ireland. But in the 1980s and 1990s it and its political wing Sinn Féin began to make moves which eventually led to ceasefires and Sinn Féin's support for the Good Friday Agreement peace deal. They remained committed to using violence to try to bring about a united Ireland, something which has been rejected by Sinn Féin for many years. The peace deal means that Northern Ireland remains part of the UK until a majority of people living there vote for a change.

They weren't while Stormont was upp and Running. This has been a shocking atrocitie. I blame the DUP for causing mistrust around Brexit and the protocol Trying to destroy the GFA.

Because jeffrey Donaldson and the DUP have Created a vacum in our province. By refusing to share power with a SF First Minister.

Sadly, these people feel intense hatred which rules their heart and mind and consumes their very being. However there is freedom from this darkness through asking the Lord Jesus for forgiveness and following his teachings. 🙏🏻

Refer to them by their proper name. Provisional IRA

I thought that should be obvious. They're part of the British apparatus in the 6 county's. So to dissident republicans they're a legitimate target. There will never be peace in the 6 county's until Britain leaves. Catholics were always discriminated against in the 6 county's.

PSNI chief constable needs to summoned the leaders of the five main partys and express disgust and revulsion at their level of incompetence, particularly the DUP, which has indirectly lead to one of his officers being shot and left for dead

No such thing as dissident republicans. Bbc news - perpetrators of sfira propaganda to disguise the reality of irish republican terrorist party. ITS THE IRA. ITS ALWAYS THE IRA. Start telling the truth!!

Ireland unfree shall never be at peace.. Patrick pearse.. Time for Irish unity 🇮🇪

And the reason you can’t disarm the psni it would be madness even if there are limited attacks on them the reason for these limited attacks is they have the means to protect themselves if they can against these cowards in our society

Do people not think it's obvious it's over the DUP crying about the protocol and then threatening violence with there UVF friends if they don't get what they want.

Why do you insist using the word dissident. Say it as it is Republican terrorists.....stop softening down murder and attempted murder.

Because they Cosy up to sinn fein IRA

Two cheeks of same backside

Cause they know nothing else. Hatred has been breed into them. Disgusting excuses for human beings.
