The daughter of a British grandfather who died after severe turbulence on a Singapore Airlines flight from Heathrow Airport has paid tribute to him.
The aircraft hit an air pocket and plummeted an astonishing 6,000ft in just five minutes, with the sudden drop unleashing mayhem onboard and forcing the plane to make an emergency landing at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport. The retired insurance worker and his wife, from Thornbury, near Bristol, were heading abroad on a six-week holiday of a lifetime to South East Asia, Indonesia and Australia when disaster struck around 11 hours into their flight from Heathrow.
She said of the couple's dream trip: 'Last time I saw him just after New Year they were both talking about this. More than 70 other passengers and crew members were injured with seven others in a serious condition and thought to be in intensive care. The plane was forced to make an emergency landing, 11 hours into the flight, at Bangkok's Suvarnabhumi airport.

Neighbours yesterday told MailOnline that he had suffered heart problems in recent years and had stents put in to widen his arteries.
