Cruise ship not allowed to dock in Greenock

Passengers on a cruise ship touring the UK have been told they will not be allowed to disembark in Scotland.

The MSC Virtuosa left Liverpool earlier this week with planned stops in Greenock in Inverclyde, as well as Belfast and Southampton. The industry body said the situation meant Scots on board the vessel were effectively "barred from setting foot in their own country".The SPAA said everyone on the ship was a UK resident, fully vaccinated, and recently tested negative.

"This is a brand new cruise ship which was coming to Greenock tomorrow and there was great excitement to see such a fabulous cruise liner in our own waters.

The owners of the ship knew it wouldn't be allowed to dock before it left Southampton. Before anyone says you can drive from Liverpool to Greenock. You can, but you're not supposed to BECAUSE OF THE PANDEMIC THATS KILLED 150,000 PEOPLE.

Who the hell in there right mind would want to stop in Scotland, there loss financially

JaneyGodley Quite right. I’m surprised cruises are even up and running already. They can be a haven for disease.

Good.

It worked for NZ & Australia! Enough said!

JaneyGodley Quite right

JaneyGodley JohnCleese Half these ships are idle, they should be fitted out for relief from hurricanes etc; power, shelter, logistics, food, hospital.. replace some swimming pools with helicopter pads.. not rocket surgery.. they made money off the coastal areas, now give back.😬🦠😷💉🇨🇦🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

I'm just very surprised cruises are going ahead so soon. It seems like yesterday that they were refused entry to many ports globally, yet people are rushing to go through that again

JaneyGodley Tories in England would have waved the virus in

JaneyGodley Can't wait for the SNP BAD news channel to jump on this. Don't know which one it is I'm talking about, aye that's the issue.

JaneyGodley Smart move.

Good… toddle off and take your virus selfish passengers with you..

Floating morgues

Imagine, 'Social distancing' on a cruise ship where you already have very good odds of getting sick from outbreaks of Norovirus because of the Cattle on board with you can't wash their hands...

More chance of the boat sinking than anyone dying of COVID caught on it

Wouldn't be that if it was full of terrorists and refugees let them in no problem 🤬

Why does this not surprise me

The ship is still docked in Liverpool 🤔

Good on the Scots
