But vaccines are weakening the link between cases, hospitalisations and deaths, which means that these numbers are less concerning than during previous waves.The government has stated that a key priority is ensuring that the NHS is not overwhelmed. Since the start of July, a growing proportion of hospital beds have been taken up by COVID-19 patients.

Scotland already has nearly the same level of hospitalisations as they did last winter at the peak. In September. And people are acting like we're over the worst of it.
