Co-op Live bosses have issued a new update about its scheduled opening date. The £365m venue, was originally due to open in April but has been hit with a number of setbacks due to 'technical issues' and ongoing building work.
This followed a reduced capacity test event with Rick Astley on April 20, a rescheduling of Peter Kay's opening shows on April 23 and 24, as well as The Black Keys on April 27. Following last Wednesday's cancelled gig, Olivia Rodrigo's two shows last weekend were postponed, Take That's May dates of their homecoming residency were moved to the AO Arena, and Keane moved their show to October.
"Co-op Live is purpose built for music, showcasing enhanced sightlines and innovative acoustic design for music fans and artists to enjoy a full live entertainment experience. As so, we are especially disappointed to have delayed our introduction and frustrated so many in the process." It adds: "Whilst we know this won’t erase the inconvenience and upset caused by the original postponements, we hope it will help everyone have the best possible time on the night.
