Despite efforts from some Scotland fans to clean up yesterday, Leicester Square has been left covered in beer cans, plastic bags and mud.

Usually, football fans are able to gather in Trafalgar Square for matches against England.

Thousands of Scottish supporters took over nearby Leicester Square yesterday and celebrated the country’s first tournament in 23 years. Social media was littered with pictures and videos of the Tartan Army, dressed in kilts and football shirts, waving the Scottish flag and belly-sliding down the rain-soaked street.

Fans climbed into the fountain at Leicester Square and left loads of litter in the water and the mud London’s cleaners will have a hard days work ahead of them today as fans return home

'Many Scots were seen leaving London with coffees and water bottles, likely nursing a hangover' Thank you for the cultural stereotype. By the way, I live in Wembley and it's pretty litter free today. But then again, Brent Council provide sufficient litter bins for the crowds.

It is tradition, they did not fight or smash things up, this was their festival.

Police laugh and joke with Scotland fans who shower them with beerFootage of the bizarre incident shows police officers doing nothing as they walk through a throng of football fans dousing them in beer in Leicester Square. Good lads! We're all British despite the rhetoric from up north 👍 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 theSNP Superficially being a British patriot I have no problem with this but can you imagine if English fans were in Glasgow and did the same things to the Scottish police in Strathclyde what do you think their response would be, certainly from SnP?😃🤫😵🥶 Every single one of these police should be charged with corruption or something like that. Either the law applies to all of us, or not. Apparently the cops are cowards, too cowardly to enforce the very law that they are too happy to enforce against us.

Scotland and England fans in London after Euro 2020 stalemate – videoScottish football fans were the happier after their Euro 2020 match with England ended in a goalless draw as they packed out Leicester Square I know they (Scots) hate us, but I can't understand fans EVER celebrating a 0-0 draw unless it maybe won them a title. Imagine playing 2 games, not scoring, losing one and drawing one, and celebrating like they won the final.
