Not actually news, just business as usual

Certainly don’t think anyone will be heading back to an office anytime soon if lower wages are on offer

As a nation we voted for this fella and the Tories. Are they really the best we have? Imagine being in an opposition incapable of ousting Johnson!! There must be some primary school children better equipped to run the country than this fella, most of them can at least count.

It’s been chaos since he was elected.

Easy to avoid this if self-employed, just fiddle the figures on your income for returns time, everyone does it who has sense, none more so than large companies & organisations.

My dad is 81 he started full time work at 15. I am 53 I started full time work at 16. This all needs putting into perspective. Personally I think it should be 1% on income tax.

marcuschown How can it have taken so long for Johnson's amazing social care plan to simply be, 'put tax up'?

'Older people' have already contributed during their working life. Their pensions are already very low compated to other European countries.

Isn't he still on the beach?

‘Chaos’ in No 10 is not news?

Let me amend that for you: ‘More chaos in no10…’

Pensioners have paid their dues over a lifetime of working - leave them alone! 😡 Perhaps it should be tiered to income earned so those earning most pay most. Seems fair to me.

Why is this NI increase so surprising? Look how many other promises have been broken by this cabal of crooks.

The first step in moving towards a 'pay to use' service, which has always been their plan since they began underfunding the NHS and privatizing services via the backdoor.

And not a single Labour party policy on care funding it sight. Just the usual retrospective slagging off.

Ongoing chaos ... isn’t that right, BorisJohnson?

Funding is a small part of the problem...so can't wait to see this plan he had already years ago...

Newspaper headlines: 'Tax rise for 25m' and 'dithering' over booster jabsPlans for funding social care and criticism of delays to rolling out booster jabs feature on the front pages. And many of those who need social care paid off the costs of wars and of the countries financial crises over the last century. That's the roundabout you can't get off. National insurance to increase in bid to fund social care, reports saySocial care is in desperate need of funding reform but any plan to increase national insurance payments will face criticism, as it is likely to disproportionately hit millions of younger people. Why when you can afford to send £30M abroad. Why should we continue to fund the governments f*** ups? Better still, tax the big pharma more, I'm sure they've made plenty of money over the last couple of years whilst the tax payers will be footing the bill for the furlough schemes So we have to pay more£ NOT to be able to see a doctor Seems like a no brainer really. If what we usually put in via National Insurance keeps the NHS ticking over through the normal times, obviously there is going to be a massive deficit that needs to be paid for after a pandemic.

Increase taxes not national insurance to fund social care, says Jeremy HuntFormer health secretary’s comments come as government expected to announce NI rise of at least 1% or privatize it “Since older people are the biggest beneficiaries, it’s fair they should make a contribution.” They've already made a contribution, throughout their working lives. Tax wealth, not wages. I'm sick of people owning houses not paying their way.
