Adam Hills, host of satirical Channel 4 programme The Last Leg, highlighted the ongoing problems on 8 October
Channel 4 had breached another condition of its licence by failing to effectively communicate with affected audiences.Ofcom described Channel 4's communication with audiences during the incident as "severely lacking". The BBC has asked Channel 4 for comment. Channel 4 was the worst affected, with an extended outage of its access services on its broadcast channels that began on 25 September 2021 and was not fully resolved until 19 November 2021.
Deaf viewers were likely to be among those most impacted by the outage, but Channel 4 did not provide any information to viewers in British Sign Language until 15 October.
Government done several Covid briefings during a time of national crisis and had no one doing subtitles and that was all fine. This was outside of their control
I also think that ALL programmes on TV should have Audio Description for the blind. Too few programmes have this service. It can be very, very difficult to keep up with the 'story' when it's only the dialogue you hear and don't see the 'actions'/facial expressions etc.
