"I did get in stupid bits of trouble down the years but I've put that down to being very inexperienced," he reflects. "A lot of my trouble came away from the football club, like on nights out. "Imagine one of the young lads now goes out and gets shot and there are rumours flying about?" he restarts. "I wasn't even in the first-team at the time. Any football club doesn't need that but fortunately, at the time, Liverpool did see something in me."It was just the way I was processing things and thinking then. I was thinking like a young, Liverpool lad, instead of thinking, hang on a minute, I am young, but I am at Liverpool Football Club here.
"If he needed a place to stay and all that, fine, but I'm not hosting parties for all different people who were flying into the country every weekend!""Other than that though, I know a few other lads in the dressing room didn't like him, but I never had a problem with him," he adds. "He did, at times, come across arrogant but don't get me wrong, he was a good footballer.
Otsemobor admits it was a challenge for academy players making the step-up to Melwood at the time to prove they were better than the influx of French and foreign signings Houllier was bringing in.Did he dislike some of the imports?"I just think they were young and they came and automatically were on bigger contracts than us, and I felt, and I'm sure a lot of other younger lads did too, like they got treated differently than us.
"Whereas if you put a Liverpool shirt on a Liverpool lad at Anfield? It's a completely different thing."
