A ROYAL burial site found next to a branch of Aldi in Essex is Britain’s answer to Tutankhamun’s tomb.
Around 40 artefacts found inside led archaeologists to conclude it is a royal grave — and one of the most significant finds in British history. Expert Sophie Jackson said: “It was such an unpromising looking site. It’s between a bit of railway and a bit of road. I think it's our equivalent’of Tutankhamun's tomb.”
That ruled out the body being that of King Saebert, who died in 616AD. Ms Jackson, of the Museum of London Archaeology, said it was possible it was the king’s brother, Seaxa, adding: “That’s the best guess.”
