Airline executives warn the plane 'is a long way away from being ready,' amid criticism regulators are too close to the company.

If MCAS understands that the angle of attack is too steep, indicating an impending stall, it automatically and repeatedly pushes the nose of the aircraft down.

Boeing may also propose the inclusion of software that will prevent MCAS responding to angle of attack data if there is significant"disagreement" between sensors collecting that data. The airline says its passengers have "lost trust" and "confidence" in the aircraft after two major crashes But American Airlines pilot union spokesperson and MAX 8 pilot captain Jason Goldberg told Sky News that the manufacturer would need to work extremely hard to restore faith after failing to flag the MCAS system to pilots when the plane was first released.Father of dead pilot: 'My son is dust'

How much would it have cost to add that to the package at no added charge, V the cost of hundreds dead, lawsuits flying thicker than aircraft? Reminds of 'Unsafe at Any Speed' from US auto pennywise pound foolishness Forgive me if I’m missing something, but if the planes crash without them, surely they shouldn’t be optional? This is not good, surely the victims families will no doubt be pursuing compensation from the airline In gaming terms, these were the optional but essential DLCs that were not bought to complete the story mission. Didn't realize that this 'extra' practice has spread to airline industry as well! Proved to be a very expensive saving.
