The food and retail outlet is set to close this summer

A Belfast councillor has said Belfast City Council has agreed to a proposal to attempt to grant a popular food and retail market the opportunity to relocate its site.

Earlier this week, Kainos was given the green light to build its Bankmore Exchange HQ in the former Movie House Cinemas site where Trademarket is currently situated. After the news, the Trademarket team issued a statement calling on the public to support their campaign for the outlet to move to the nearby Bankmore Square, a space they describe as a "natural fit" for the business.

After thousands of people backed the campaign in the first 24-hours by sending an email of support to local government, council representatives and stakeholders involved in the redevelopment, the Green Party's Cllr Brian Smyth has shared an update.
