BBC newsreader George Alagiah has been diagnosed withThe presenter underwent tests after developing a fever and a few days later his oncologist rang to say he had tested positive for the virus.

He told the BBC: ‘Two weeks ago, I got a temperature. As you know, I’m in the middle of cancer treatment and they always say “you get a temperature, you phone in”.
