BBC director general Tim Davie has vowed not to resign over the fallout with Gary Lineker.

BBC director general Tim Davie has apologised for the disruption to sports programming followingSpeaking to the BBC’s Nomia Iqbal in the US, he was asked if he should quit over the impartiality crisis – he said he would not.

Davie did not want to go into detail about discussions or if he had spoken to Lineker in last 24 hours. Saturday’s TV and radio sporting timetables were changed at the last minute and Sunday’s Match Of The Day has also been thrown into question. In a statement, a BBC spokesperson said: ‘The BBC will only be able to bring limited sport programming this weekend and our schedules will be updated to reflect that.‘We are working hard to resolve the situation and hope to do so soon.’

He’s made an absolute shitshow of it. He needs to go!

He should absolutely resign. He infringes someone's freedom of speech. Gary can easily sue BBC and have a better chance of winning it.

IStandWithGaryLineker

Looking forward to that u-turn.

Sack GaryLineker

Then he must be sacked.

Nor should he. As much as we need to protect freedom of speech, we also need to kill the retort that people must lose their jobs for mistakes made. Just settle it and move on.
