BBC and Met Office verdicts amid reports of a June heatwave

Weather experts at the BBC and the Met Office have delivered their official verdicts amid reports of a "30C scorcher" hitting the UK this month.

It adds that temperatures are "likely to be near or slightly below average at first, perhaps slightly above normal later".
