Hopes of more summery weather are being dashed once again

While many of us were hoping for some more summery weather next month, forecasters are looking less optimistic.

The Met Office has warned its latest long-range forecast that the first half of June will see much cooler temperatures and showers which will be 'sometimes blustery'. These showers will be accompanied by thunderstorms for some parts, primarily across the northwest. Despite this, there will be an increase in brighter conditions, but temperatures will remain 'rather cool or average'. Later on into next week, 'bands' of rain could batter parts of the UK with the south being significantly drier than the rest of the country. As the week progresses, forecasters expect temperatures to be 'probably around normal' ahead of more unsettled conditions in the latter half of June.

This is mainly attributed to 'slow moving weather patterns" which are expected to be consistent throughout the month. This will be accompanied by an expected build up of high pressure as the month progresses, with temperatures ranging to 'above normal'. It's important to note that the Met Office's long-range forecasts are not always set in stone due to the unpredictable nature of predicting weather patterns that far into the future. For now, however, it seems our hopes of a heatwave will have to stay on the shelf for a little bit longer.
