Battle of Britain pilot dies aged 101

One of the last surviving pilots who fought in the Battle of Britain during World War Two has died aged 101.

Their bravery and sacrifice in withstanding the greater numbers of German pilots of the Luftwaffe and a possible invasion was recognised by then Prime Minister Winston Churchill.Churchill's"Few", as RAF crew, who included Polish, Canadian and New Zealand pilots among others, became known, have been celebrated ever since.

In 2015, Mr Mounsdon told the BBC he was serving with 56 Squadron out of North Weald when he was sent out to intercept some bombers on 31 August 1940.

The poor guy must have been utterly bewildered as to how we have collectively let his, and many more brave souls heroism be for nought. Hooligans run riot, drugs are everywhere, the streets not safe for women & kids, and all we do is slap people on the wrist. SHAME ON US.

Flight Lieutenant Maurice Mounsdon - A true hero! RIP.

My English great grandfather died at 106..dressed in a 3 piece suit every day took a walk b4 dinner and one day he came from walk laid down and left .

Let's remember the sacrifice Maurice and many other young men made to keep Britain free of tyranny as we face a possible Marxist government under Labour.
