Bank transfer scams reach record levels

It’s a fraud which is costing banks and consumers millions of pounds every month – cases of Authorised Push Payment fraud have reached record levels.

And although the recent Queen’s Speech promised action to tackle the crime, new figures show a sharp rise in the number of cases, with the banks accused of failing to fully compensate customers, and the police seemingly ill-equipped to track down the criminals.
