Archie Battersbee suffered brain damage in an incident at home on 7 April and has not regained consciousness
The 12-year-old must spend his final days in hospital after the High Court ruled he could not move to a hospice. They hoped to move him to a hospice but doctors warned he was too unstable to move by ambulance and it would "hasten premature deterioration".Archie's mother, Hollie Dance, had said she wanted him "in a peaceful hospice to say goodbye"The family sought permission to appeal against the decision, but that bid was rejected by three justices at the Court of Appeal.
A spokesman with campaign group Christian Concern, which is supporting Archie's family, said: "All legal routes have been exhausted. The hospital has not confirmed when treatment will be withdrawn, but Christian Concern says the family have been told it will be withdrawn on Saturday.
Now is the time to stop giving every penny to the government unnecessarily. Its survival mode. Need to start investing in our own life support machines, ventilator machines etc.
Time for the media to back away, listen to the experts, time for the family to grieve
I don't care what anyone has to say about any of this. I am an ex soldier, and I am usually hardened to adults dying. But, the death of a child tears my heart out. I have raising 2 boys, and now 2 grandchildren. We should be praying that God carries that boy home in comfort.
Clearly tragic but there is something very strange about both the “accident” & his mothers subsequent course of action, it’ll be interesting to see the full facts when come out, all very sad.
Why was the mother out in front of the cameras again just after he died? I would be in no fit state to give any kind of press conference. Surely a Dr or Nurse could've said a few words on their behalf, or just release a statement 🤷
😢🇬🇧
If I was in a similar situation as a parent I would avoid all publicity for my child, myself and my family. A media circus with all the third party emotion & sometimes ridiculous comments would be avoided. My child’s best interests would have to come first, as should Archie’s.
This story is truly awful. May he Rest In Peace as soon as possible.
YOU CAN'T MOVE HIM HE MIGHT DIE, IF HE STAYS HERE WE WILL LET HIM DIE, JUST ANOTHER TORY CATCH 22 SITUATION, VOTE TORY WHO THINK 12 YEAR OLD BOYS LEFT TO DIE ITS BETTER FOR THEM THAN LIVING!
FFS. Something like this happens from time to time. It's a terrible tragedy, but there's no need for the public to gawp at this family going through this stuff. You're not the daily mail so why not give it a rest.
🥱
What remains of the throttled NHS budget, the staff, the time and the life support can now be given to another child who is in need & has a chance of survival but risks losing it the longer this selfish hag keeps bawling at the system.
My thoughts go out to all the other families that have lost loved ones too, and those that have had to accept the inevitable. The biggest shame is that he should have been allowed to go a long time ago.
We’re all exhausted. Get it over with. Let him rest and let the hospital get back to actually saving living people
RIP Little man 🙏
Let him go FFS
