Alpine is adamant that its contract with Oscar Piastri for 2023 is legally watertight, despite him denying he will drive for the Enstone F1 team

ItHowever, a few hours after Alpine’s announcement,to insist that he had not signed anything with the team and would not be racing for it in 2023.

“I understand that, without my agreement, Alpine F1 have put out a press release late this afternoon that I am driving for them next year,” Piastri wrote. “This is wrong and I have not signed a contract with Alpine for 2023. I will not be driving for Alpine next year.” It is understood that his comments come in the wake of a push that Piastri and his management have made to secure a seat atThere have been suggestions that the youngster may even have a pre-contract in place with McLaren which meant that if options lapsed at Alpine, then he would commit to joining the Woking-based squad.

It is widely understood that as part of his long-term deal with Alpine, it needed to guarantee Piastri an F1 race seat for 2023 by a certain date if he was to stay under contract.

Maybe Alpine should put a Court injunction on Piastri, holding him to contract unless he's able to buy himself out of contract or a Team is willing to buy out contract

This is like Jenson’s BAR & Williams debacle all over again😅

As an Aussie, I find it overall quite bad if Oscar actually has a legal duty as they say. But who knows, this will be very intriguing drama to follow, since you don’t expect anything remotely like this in pro sports

Teams making deals with drivers who are still under contract by another team it is not the best way to show fairplay. Greed is becoming more and more big part of the game. The sport should be better. All grid matters.

As long he has not signed they are talking Bullshit..........!

Imagine being an F1 team and a Formula driver doesn't want to drive for you yet you're trying to shove him in your F1 car. That's wild. Tell me how you go about your business without telling me how you go about your business.

Indycar already did it, stop with copying their content F1

Watertight in motorsport = sieve

Oscar Piastri taking sabbatical before even joining in F1.

f1word About as watertight as the Titanic by the looks of it

New word in my English vocabulary 'watertight'.

Lets see. Who is right.

Hahaha

Wtf is going on

That may be so, but do they really want to go into next season with a driver who clearly has no interest in driving for them?

Embarrassing for Alpine but has Piastri started a game he cannot win?Oscar Piastri and Alpine most likely have a long legal tussle ahead, but could it end badly for the young Australian? F1 It would be a bit embarrassing for all but the best result here is Piastri to McLaren and Ricciardo returns to Alpine. That’s win-win I reckon. Dan was excellent in that car. Everyone wins Why? Piastri's contract finished July 31st I hope not, but it seems like such an unnecessary risk.
