All GP consultations should be done remotely by default unless there is a reason a patient needs to be seen in person, Matt Hancock has said in a speech setting out what he sees as the lessons for the NHS and care sector from the coronavirus pandemic.
No MattHancock they absolutely should not. Yet again you display a complete lack of awareness of what medicine and being a doctor is actually about. It’s so much more than just making a diagnosis. It needs human interaction. Empathy. Care. Difficult via Skype.
No way, people need face to face for lots of things. And not everyone is online for video consultations. What an absolute farce this whole thing has become!
Because Tories have their hands in the private tech companies that facilitate virtual appointments. This has nothing to do with Covid (though it has been convenient for privatisation) - it was being discussed long before HandsOffOurNHS
And sack half the GPs in the same exercise ConHome really are a nasty bunch
I don’t think Hancock is well. His speech is slow witj lots of “errs”. Maybe he needs a holiday.
Is he off his head?
Spoken like a man who can afford private healthcare. For the rest of us, Skype.
DIY smear test coming up for me then.
Pains me to say this but I needed an appointment my surgery is usually 2 weeks waiting time, today I had a call only 1.5 days after making the appointment. It's certainly been easier to speak to my GP
MartinHCroydon You should look into the relationship between Hancock and Babylon Health
Hands up who’s taking medical advice from Mr Hancock?
3 video consultations, by 3 different doctors over a space of 4 weeks. All 3 diagnosis were ultimately wrong. One of which was only one way, the doctor not on camera 😐
50 million extra GP appointments you promised. Nothing about them being remote
The real point here, of course, is that 'remote consultations' will be easier to shift to *US private healthcare providers in a cheaper country*...
This man is the most dangerous politician this country has even seen. No medical degree and he is making these sorts of judgments. Literally sentencing people to death.
Blood pressure? Temperature? Lung capacity etc How will these be tested remotely?
This is a perfect system. As long as nobody ever gets a single complaint that requires actual inspection or diagnosis. But surely a GP’s office will never receive any of those.
No. Absolutely not. There are so many factors within communication that form the art of general practice and are lost with video consulting. It is not the same as a normal consultation plus some tech!
Matt Hancock Should Be As Remote The Falklands
Suggest we do away with GPs. We can just use a tick box on the Internet and refer ourselves to hospital, assuming we keep them. No internet? Die. Need something worrying looked at. Take a photo; Image matching. Die Need tablets, Tescos. Die. GPs; clearly no more patient interest.
Sure, that'll be helpful for all those that don't have a smartphone or a computer, have very shitty cameras etc. Doctors will miss things they might otherwise notice if the consultation was face to face. Was it Boris' idea? He has a penchant for transferring responsibilities...
My mum is deaf, can't use a phone. She is 85 and she is not in the technological age. She has been abandoned. COVID19 consequences. Another example of ageism.
Matt, I can't express this enough: Go find a cliff, set yourself on fire & jump off it onto the rocks below. Then repeat until the end of time. 65000deadpeoplesayfuckyoumatthancock
So I can't go to the doctor's - where he/she can wear PPE and I can wear a mask - but I CAN return to my classroom with nary a mask in sight. Do these doctors know something I don't?
Matt little cock needs to shut up, my neighbors an 80 year old couple rely on me for anything more complex than a tv remote or the microwave, i take them shopping although i can order online, because they don't need more isolation from the outer world than they already have.
So I'm supposed to just slap it out and say can you see the lump doc 🥴
From experience both my mother and son would have got the right treatment sooner if they had had face to face contact sooner. I like video consults but they can't replace f2f.
What about non clinical reasons such as poor wi-fi, communication difficulties etc
Tax rebate then?
And all ministers should have some intelligence and a minimum IQ something this moron fails completely MattHancock
Dr Death
Surely proper, thorough diagnoses can only be done in person , vulnerable people in our society rely on the face to face contact with their GP and other healthcare professionals for their physical and mental well being. Unnecessary appointments should be avoided at this time .
I agree. I much prefer it
So they’re triage ?
why is he employed in government he is clearly not fit for purpose!
trying to force you all to go digital so they can scrape the data for their corrupt American insurance companys
MattHancock saying something that I agree with has blown my mind
Am I supposed to hold my own balls and cough?
