Senate President Vicente Sotto III on Wednesday bared that four to five more witnesses are set to appear in the Senate’s investigation into the alleged anomalies in the New Bilibid Prison (NBP).

Sotto said he signed at least seven subpoenas for the hearing on Sept. 12, Thursday. The Senate justice and human rights committee will continue its probe into the Good Conduct Time Allowance law, which was reportedly abused by moneyed inmates to gain adjustments in their prison terms.

“But in case there is a need for another hearing, the Blue Ribbon Committee has moto propio powers to convene anytime,” he said. Sen. Richard Gordon, chair of the Senate blue ribbon committee, said they directed the National Bureau of Investigation to retrieve the messages deleted and call logs from the phones submitted by Bansil and Buno.
