“Ineng” in northern Luzon, especially in Ilocos Norte, as it registered a total of P282 million worth of damages in infrastructure and agriculture.NDRRMC Executive Director Ricardo Jalad said nine roads and slope protections, four bridges and two flood control structures were damaged in 12 villages in Ilocos Norte.A slope protection structure in Barangay Payac to Alao-ao had the highest cost of damage at P150 million after it got destroyed due to soil erosion.
Most of the structures will have to undergo rehabilitation including the damaged bridge at Vintar-Tamdagan-Tungel provincial road in Barangay Tamdagan, Vintar and two flood control sites in Barangay Parado and Sagpatan in Dingras town.Most affected were the rice fields in northern Luzon as Ineng drowned P14,954,521.60 worth of rice commodities.Other affected areas were livestock , high-value commercial crops and corn .The first fatality was identified as Ricky Manglanlan, of Brgy.
Two other individuals were injured due to a landslide in Brgy. Surong also in Pasuquin town. They were siblings Princess Shalane Trumpo, 11, and her younger brother John Lloyd, 9.A total of 4,595 families or 18,845 families were affected by the heavy rains and deep floods caused by Ineng in 13 cities and municipalities in Ilocos Norte.
Meanwhile, the rains and floods added to the woes of 35 families or 103 persons in the quake-hit island-town of Itbayat in Batanes. The 505th Search and Rescue Squadron of the Philippine Air Force was deployed in flooded areas in Ilocos Norte for continuous search and rescue operations.
