2 dead as 'Ineng' brings heavy rains, flooding in Ilocos Norte FloodPatrol InengPH

MANILA - Two people were confirmed dead in Ilocos Norte amid heavy rains and flooding brought by severe Tropical Storm Ineng, local officials said Saturday. A 37-year-old man was, meanwhile, killed after he was carried away by flood waters in Laoag City.

Authorities have opened evacuation areas for some 418 who needed to take shelter from the rains and floods. Heavy rains caused widespread damage in the province, with cows dying and equipment getting destroyed after being carried away by flood water. Weather bureau PAGASA said Ineng's outer rainbands continued to affect extreme northern Luzon even as it made its way to southern Taiwan.
