Lawmakers to work ‘day and night’ br as proposed P4.1-T budget sent to House via themanilatimes

Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano said that “we will start the DBCC hearings on Thursday,” adding that “we will work day and night.”“So tomorrow we will be asking the members of the House na mag-o-overtime. So instead of starting the sessions at 3 o’ clock, we will be starting the sessions at 5 o’ clock so that we can have four hearings a day,” Cayetano said in part.

DBM Acting Secretary Wendel Avisado, a former administrator of Davao City, said that the 2020 National Expenditure Program would finance the implementation of the universal healthcare, fund the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, provide rice competitiveness enhancement fund, and provide funds for the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development’s initial operations.

Davao City 3rd District Rep. Chairman Isidro Ungab said that he was “honored and excited to be given the opportunity to chair” the House Committee on Appropriations “that is tasked to ensure the timely passage” of the proposed budget. “The pro-poor philosophy that I learned from our President [Rodrigo Duterte] in crafting the Davao City budget was my guiding principle when I chaired the Appropriations Committee from 2013 to 2016 and will surely be my guiding light in ensuring to deliver a responsive, dynamic 2020 National Budget that will truly meet the needs of the Filipino people, especially the poor”, Ungab said.
