The House of Representatives will flex its muscles to ensure that the proposed 2020 P4.1 trillion national budget will be approved on third and final reading before the 18th Congress takes its first break on October 5.

Davao City Rep. Isidro Ungab, chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, made the assurance, two days before the Department of Budget and Management , led by Acting Secretary Wendel Avisado submits the P4.1-trillion National Expenditure Program .

He said they are eyeing to approve the spending measure on third and final reading on October 4 before the congressional recess. On August 22, the budget hearings will start at 9 a.m. with a briefing of the Development Budget Coordination Committee , the inter-agency body that determines the overall economic targets, expenditure levels and budget of the government.

According to the DBM, the 2020 cash appropriations “will prioritize the acceleration of infrastructure, anti-poverty, and pre-employment spending.”
