But while she recognizes the need to protect the individuals who suffer in a broken marriage, Marcos said she believes lawmakers should give priority to the welfare of the children and of the afflicted spouse.“I am not so concerned about the legal status of consenting adults. Ang primordial dapat should be the welfare of the children of a broken marriage and the situation of the abandoned spouse,” she said.
The opposition senator said the grounds would include psychological incapacity, irreconcilable differences, marital rape, separation for at least five years now and others.
