The northeast monsoon, locally known as “amihan”, and the shear line, also called the tail-end of frontal system, will continue to bring cold weather, cloudy skies, and light rains over the country in the next 24 hours, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration on Friday, Jan. 14.“Malaking bahagi po ng ating bansa ang naaapektuhan ng amihan. Ang malamig na hangin na dala ng amihan ay nakakaapekto dito sa area ng Luzon at Visayas.
Residents of northern Mindanao, Caraga, SOCCSKSARGEN, Davao Region, and BARMM were warned against possible flash floods or landslides during moderate to at times heavy rains that the shear line may bring. Meanwhile, PAGASA said that Cagayan Valley, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Aurora, Quezon, and Camarines Norte may experience cloudy skies with light rains in the next 24 hours due to the northeast monsoon.
Metro Manila and the rest of the country may likewise experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the northeast monsoon, the State weather bureau added.
