Students of Kaduna State University were allowed to write their semester examinations despite unpaid school fees for 2023/2024 academic session.

The university authority, which disclosed this in a statement, said the development followed a directive by Governor Uba Sani, aimed at lessening the impact of the current economic hardship on the students.

recalls that the previous government under the leadership of former Governor Nasir El-rufai, had in 2023 increased school fees by 100 per cent. Several students had voluntarily withdrawn due to their inability to pay the school fees, while those who continue with their academic studies are finding it difficult to pay. Following this, Governor Uba Sani had announced the downward review of fees payable in state-owned tertiary institutions.
