The Delta State Commissioner of Police (CP), Abaniwonda Olufemi, has arrested and detained officers involved in the alleged shooting of the vigilante commander of Idjerhe Kingdom and two of his men in Ethiope West Local Council of the state. The CP’s action followed recent protests by the community’s women who demanded that those behind the shooting of the vigilante operatives be brought to book.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police (CP), Abaniwonda Olufemi, has arrested and detained officers involved in the alleged shooting of the vigilante commander of Idjerhe Kingdom and two of his men in Ethiope West Local Council of the state. The CP’s action followed recent protests by the community’s women who demanded that those behind the shooting of the vigilante operatives be brought to book.

Confirming the development, the command’s spokesperson, Bright Edafe, said the CP directed the Deputy Commissioner of Police, State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), to commence full-scale investigation into the incident. According to Edafe, the CP reiterated that it’s not in the character of the command to trample on the rights of citizens or use rifles without recourse to Force Order 237
