A 57-year-old man with a history of DUI convictions was arrested after allegedly crashing his vehicle into a traffic signal pole in Seattle's Central District. Police apprehended a 57-year-old individual with a history of DUI offenses after he allegedly collided with a utility pole in Seattle 's Central District last week. A Seattle Police Department officer on routine patrol observed the man abruptly exiting a parking lot and accelerating through four lanes of traffic at a high speed. He then proceeded to run a crosswalk before crashing into a traffic signal pole situated near 3rd Avenue and East Cherry Street around 2:00 a.m. on Friday.

\The officer identified the man as being under the influence of alcohol and subsequently arrested him. During the arrest, an open can of Genesee Cream Ale was discovered in the front seat's cupholder. Authorities revealed that the man possesses multiple prior convictions, encompassing DUI, first-degree driving with a suspended license, and violation of an ignition interlock device. \Upon arrival at the East Precinct for processing, a breath analysis conducted on the suspect indicated that he was operating his vehicle with a blood alcohol content more than double the legal limit. Officers subsequently booked the man into King County Jail on charges of DUI with four or more prior offenses and an ignition interlock violation.
