A 57-year-old man with a history of DUI convictions was arrested in Seattle's Central District on Valentine's Day after crashing into a pole while driving under the influence. He was found to have a blood alcohol content more than double the legal limit.

A prolific DUI driver is back in custody after being apprehended for driving under the influence in Seattle 's Central District on Valentine's Day. The 57-year-old male was arrested following an observation by a Seattle police lieutenant who witnessed him crashing into a pole. The lieutenant was on patrol near 23rd Avenue and East Cherry Street around 2 a.m. when he observed the crash.

According to Seattle police, the man exited a parking lot, drove across four lanes of traffic, through a crosswalk, and ultimately struck a pedestrian signal pole on the northeast corner of the intersection. Upon analysis of the man's breath by officers, it was determined that he was impaired by alcohol at more than double the legal limit. Officials confirmed the man has a history of numerous previous convictions, including a felony conviction for DUI, alongside convictions for driving with a suspended license and an ignition interlock device violation. The 57-year-old man was booked into the King County Jail for having four or more prior DUI offenses and an ignition interlock violation. He is currently being held on a $750,000 bail due to being considered a public safety risk
