WWF-Malaysia chose Sabah to celebrate its 50th Anniversary (1972 – 2022) on Nov 3-4, which is fitting to commemorate its first project in the country – on Gaya Island off the state capital before the Tunku Abdul Rahman Park was established and developed.

The 50th anniversary conference event held at the Shangri-La Tanjung Aru Resort with the theme of “50 Years Together With Nature” is aimed at reversing the decline of nature and transform Malaysia into a sustainable nation by 2030.Nature provides benefits to the global economy worth $125 trillion per year. Natural resources crises, biodiversity loss and climate change are the top risks identified in terms of livelihood and impact.
