PUTRAJAYA: A company proprietor has been arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) for bribing a senior government official.

Sources said the female suspect, in her 30s, was allegedly offering a RM200,000 luxury car to the officer of a ministry to secure a RM87mil project.

The car, which was given at an undisclosed date this year, was meant for an inducement for a five-year contract to manage and maintain the ministry's facilities, added the sources."She was called up for questioning over the case at the MACC headquarters here before being arrested at about 6.50pm for further investigations," sources said.

It is learnt that a four-day remand order has been issued by the Putrajaya Magistrates' Court on Tuesday to further detain the suspect. He said the suspect is being investigated for alleged corruption under Section 17 of the MACC Act 2009.
