This was announced by Vice-Chancellor Emeritus Professor Dr Mohd Azraai Kassim at the launch of the Al Jazeera Week recently at the university’s Puncak Alam campus in Selangor.
This collaboration asserts UiTM’s priority to build close bilateral relations with global partners and provide an opportunity to exchange views on various matters of interest. To strengthen the relationship between UiTM and Al Jazeera, Education Minister Dr Maszlee Malik expressed his aspiration to set up an Al Jazeera-like media centre in UiTM.
Speaking at the event, Al Jazeera deputy director-general Dr Mustefa Souag deliberated the possibility of extending another milestone collaboration with UiTM that emphasised training and knowledge-sharing beyond media and journalistic practices. The course covered topics on data journalism, mobile journalism, investigative journalism, TV reporting and documentary filmmaking.
