The drastic jump follows his quarter-final finish at the Hellas Open in Greece in August and winning the South Australian International title last month. It was his first two Badminton World Federation tournaments.
“I still have a few more tournaments left this year and hopefully, I can break into the top 100,” said Tze Yong. He is also hoping for a consistent showing to be part of the Badminton Association of Malaysia’s Project ’24, which is aimed at winning a gold at the Paris 2024 Olympics and making the final of the 2024 Thomas Cup Finals in China.Tze Yong has been enjoying himself since he was promoted from Bukit Jalil Sports School to the senior squad in December last year.
“It’s much tougher but I thrive on the challenge. I’ve learnt a lot from the seniors, especially in dealing with pressure when the scores are tied at 20-20. I’ve improved.”
