MOST traders in the once lively Little India in Lebuh Ampang, Kuala Lumpur, are complaining of lacklustre business despite the implementation of the conditional movement control order (MCO), reported Makkal Osai.

Almost all the shops in the area, which is popular among locals and tourists for Indian food, clothes and jewellery, had reopened.

One of the traders, identified only as Valliappan, said the shops had complied with all the social distancing requirements put in place by the government but customers were only shopping for essentials. The temple’s yearly expenditure is reported to be at 25 billion rupees a year with some 13 billion rupees going to salaries.The management said it spent around three billion rupees in salaries during the 50 days of lockdown.
