JOHOR BARU: Three men died while two others sustained serious injuries when their car was involved in a road accident along Jalan Rumbia 3 in Taman Daya here.

Johor Baru South OCPD Asst Comm Raub Selamat said that the incident happened around 2.20am on Monday morning.

ACP Raub said that due to the incident, the three backseat passengers died at the scene, while the driver and the front passenger sustained serious head injuries. “So far, the case is still under police investigation to ascertain whether the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs during the accident.

He added that police issued 75 summonses during the operation at Jalan Stulang Laut, Jalan Ibrahim Sultan and near the city area, which was a known hotspot for youth motorcycle groups, around 5pm on Sunday .
