“We hope to carry it out next year,” he said at the temple’s Charity Giving Day in Jalan Masjid Kapitan Keling where donations were presented to 21 charities.
The temple usually holds two charity events each year – one to donate to charitable organisations and the other to distribute ang pow to the elderly. “The number of organisations which receive donations has increased since 2020. Last year, we added Kek Lok Si Charity Hospital to the list of recipients,” said Tan, revealing that RM36,500 in total was given out to organisations.
Tan said the annual events were a way of giving back to society and helping these organisations to reach out to more people.
