Empat mod tunggangan disediakan pada V-Strom 800DE, iaitu Active , Basic , Comfort dan Gravel. Mod A adalah yang paling agresif dan C paling santai, sementara Gravel pula sesuai untuk tunggangan offroad kerana ia masih membenarkan tayar belakang tergelincir sedikit tanpa mengurangkan kuasa. Suspensi Showa dengan jarak gerak 220 mm dipasang pada V-Strom 800DE, dan ia terdiri daripada fork USD boleh laras di hadapan dan monoshock dengan tabung gas serta tombol pelaras pra beban di belakang. Apabila dipadankan dengan rim spoked 21 inci di hadapan dan 17 inci di belakang, motosikal ini menyediakan jarak kelegaan dari tanah 220 mm dan tinggi tempat duduk 855 mm.
