PETALING JAYA: Police made more than RM130mil worth of seizures in operations against contraband, possession of controlled items, and wildlife crime last year, according to statistics released by Bukit Aman.

Police secretary Deputy Comm Datuk Norsiah Mohd Saaduddin said in a statement Monday that 306 arrests and seizures of around RM132,707,431 were made in relation to such crimes.

Of that total, around RM68,047,396.60 worth of goods were seized under the Customs Act 1967 while the value of animals and animal products confiscated under the Wildlife Conservation Act 2010 came up to RM2,855,370. Police also made seizures amounting to RM7,576,222 under the Explosives Act 1957, and RM40,360,702.80 under the Control of Supplies Act 1961.

RM3,420,000 in seizures were made under the Control of Drugs and Cosmetics Regulations 1984 and Poisons Act. The statement added that from Jan 1 to 6 this year alone, nine anti-wildlife crime raids were conducted resulting in RM27,400,605.20 in seizures.Article type: free
