HANOI, May 16 — The national contingent added three gold medals on the eighth day of the 31st SEA Games through bodybuilding, gymnastics and golf.

The national bodybuilding camp also won a bronze medal through Walvern Abdullah-Kok Gong Tai in the mixed pairs category on the final day of the event. The Malaysian national anthem was also played at the Quan Ngua Gymnasium Centre after female artistic gymnast Rachel Yeoh Li Wen won the gold medal in the multi-level crossbar event.

The achievement also saw the squad coached by Abdul Talib Ahmad defend the silver won in the 2019 edition in the Philippines. National extreme sports athlete Tahira Najmunisaa Muhammad, in her debut appearance on the SEA Games stage, won silver in the women's elite duathlon. Malaysia’s haul today of three gold, four silver and four bronze medals saw the national contingent dropping one rung to fifth place with an overall collection of 16 gold, 12 silver and 30 bronze.
