Power! 😮 Samsung MediaTek TechNave

Samsung and MediaTek recently joined forces to achieve a breakthrough in 5G upload speed performance in the former’s lab in Suwon, South Korea. Specifically, the collaboration managed to achieve record speeds on a 5G Standalone network with 2CC Carrier Aggregation with C Band featuring Multiple Input Multiple Output .

As reported by SamMobile, the collaboration was between Samsung Networks and MediaTek and uses Samsung Networks’ C-Band Massive MIMO radios, a virtualised Distributed Unit and a 5G core. The test utilises a device from MediaTek featuring the new M80-based CPU chipset. The chipset uses one channel each with three antennas to achieve a top upload speed of 363Mbps. Impressively, this speed is actually near the theoretical limit of such a setup.

So, how does this impact consumers? Well, once this technology is commonplace in consumer products, it will significantly improve network upload speeds. For example, live video streaming at high resolution, video conferencing on the move and multiplayer gaming can get smoother with networks with such high upload speeds.

So, what do you guys think of this achievement by Samsung and MediaTek? Share your thoughts with us in the comments below and stay tuned to TechNave for more trending tech news.
