KOTA KINABALU: Sabah PAS supports the idea to register the ruling state coalition Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) as a political party.

Sabah PAS secretary Dr Aliakbar Gulasan said that people supported the ten-party coalition in the September 2020 state election and it was important that the mandate of the people is maintained in light of political developments in Peninsular Malaysia.

"The GRS government has proven to be friendly to the people, especially when facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic. His statement comes after former chief minister Datuk Seri Salleh Tun Said Keruak made a similar call for the registration of GRS to avoid clashes between political partners following the recently concluded Melaka state election.Salleh, who is also GRS Backbenchers Club chairman, said this could avoid a similar situation in Melaka where Barisan and Perikatan contested against each other.
