PETALING JAYA: PLUS Malaysia Bhd (PLUS) has successfully reduced congestion by 48.2% in all toll exits at the central region since it stopped providing top-up service at all toll plazas on August 1.

In a statement Thursday , the highway concessionaire said the “No Touch ‘n Go reload service” implementation has seen a significant reduction in drivers with insufficient balance trying to reload their Touch 'n Go cards at highway tolls between Seremban and Ipoh South.

“Although the figure of 5% seems small, it involves 42,500 vehicles contributing to high congestion and time wastage, impacting 95% of other drivers on the PLUS highway, ” it said. “PLUS is grateful to its customers who have contributed to the reduction in the central region, due to their civic-mindedness and considerate attitude to top up their Touch ‘n Go cards prior to entering the North-South Expressway.

PLUS also clarified that the implementation of the no-reload service was to ensure the safety of PLUS customer service agents and reduces the risk of life and limb as there had been cases of heavy vehicles driving through the booths at toll plazas.
