State local government committee chairman Jagdeep Singh Deo said the Federal Government project included the deepening and widening of the river, building a flood wall and several pedestrian crossings plus bridge upgrades.
“After the soil investigation report is completed, the consultant will take into account the findings and make modifications to the design if necessary. Jagdeep said the project falls under phase one which covers two rivers – Sungai Pinang and Sungai Jelutong. “A road will be constructed in Jalan Kampung Rawa and there will be river corridor improvement and beautification.“The project will take about four years to be completed, ” he said.
